Fun science adventures for all ages!

Four Things I am Loving This Winter

Truth be told, I am not a big fan of winter. I like to be warm, I like to be outside, and I like more daylight hours. However, I do have a few things that have made this winter much more enjoyable, so I thought I’d share them with you!

Furgie, Our New Kitten!

Is there anything better in this world than snuggling with a soft, sweet, new kitten? Almost nothing can beat this feeling! Furgie, aka “Mr. Furgler”, brings me so much happiness, laughter, and even warmth every day – he has been a true joy in my life this winter.

Essential Oil Diffuser/Four Thieves Oil

I have a new essential oil diffuser, and I like to diffuse “Four Thieves” oil. What is “Four Thieves” oil, you might wonder? Well, apparently, during the 15th century, the blend was created by a group of “four thieves” to protect themselves from the plague while robbing the sick and dying. Sounds pleasant, right? It is actually a blend of: Clove, Lemon, Cinnamon, Eucalyptus, and Rosemary essential oils. In other words, it smells fantastic! But, does it ward off disease? A good friend recently did a study on the antibacterial power of essential oils, including Four Thieves blend. She concluded that the vapor from a diffuser with Four Thieves oil truly does inhibit bacterial growth. WOW! She also found that it will not likely disinfect an entire room, but I was not expecting it to do that, anyway.

Heated Wrap

My Mother-in-law purchased this heated wrap for me as a Christmas gift. I LOVE IT. I carry most of my tension in my neck and shoulders, so there is nothing more relaxing than to wrap up in this at night while I read a book or watch tv.

Teachers Paying Teachers Website

After 4 months of the same homeschool curriculum, the kids and I were so tired of the same old stuff everyday. I did not want to go out and purchase new textbooks, so I went to the Teachers Paying Teachers website, where there are endless fresh ideas. I have downloaded “morning work” for both my kids, so they have a worksheet that meets standards (and they actually enjoy) first thing in the morning while I am getting everything else ready. Among other things, I have recently downloaded long division worksheets, and a science unit. Even if you are not homeschooling, but are looking for a little extra help for your kids – I highly recommend browsing the TPT website. There are also many free downloads, if you would like a preview of what the site has to offer.

Some of my other favorites are below:

Summer Favorites – including protein bars, bread-in-a-bag, and more!

Spring Favorites – including hand&nail care, a protein bite recipe, and a leather cream.

Fall Favorites – including 2 recipes, a flavored coffee, and 2 products for the home.
