Spring is so close, but I do feel the need to give a quick shout-out to the favorites that helped me survive this (thankfully very mild) winter.
Hand and Nail Care Products
My cuticles and nails get cracked and dry in the winter. I am hard on my hands, so I decided to make a conscious effort to treat them better this year! I made some purchases at the beginning of the winter, and have been very pleased with the results. So, first, the “before” and “after” pictures: the before pictures (hand on top, magnified cuticle on bottom) were taken on Jan 4th, and the after pictures were taken on Mar 2nd (just about 2 months apart).
For my cuticles, I got “Butter LONDON Melt Away Cuticle Exfoliator” and “Sally Hansen Quick Care Cuticle Treatment”. I tried to use the Sally Hansen cuticle oil stick daily, because it is very convenient, and takes less than 30 seconds to apply. It made an immediate improvement in the appearance of my dried and cracked cuticles.
I have a horrible habit of cutting my cuticles, which is not good for them, and always leads to hangnails and the cuticles eventually look even worse. The cuticle exfoliator was my solution to this problem, and I was pleasantly surprised at how well it was able to remove my cuticles without any cutting involved. I probably used the cuticle exfoliator about once a week, because it requires slightly more work. After application, you push down your cuticles and wash your hands. Really not very much work, but more than 30 seconds!
Nail Care and Hand Care
For my nails, I purchased Nailtiques Formula 1 nail protein. This stuff is fabulous. It protects and strengthens nails, and you can be really messy with the application! You can use it up to 3x per week, but I averaged about 1-2x a week. I also used Burt’s Bees Ultimate Care Hand Cream for my extra dry skin. It was very soothing, and has a light scent.

My absolute favorite boots that are comfortable, warm, and fabulous started to look pretty dingy this winter. I read some great reviews of FRYE Leather Conditioning Cream, and decided to give it a try. I will let the picture speak for itself!
